Visit to Gracia Neighborhood
In Field Studies class on Wednesday, professor Ivan Blasi took our class up to the Turó de la Rivera and through the neighborhood of Grácia. Originally an abandoned Iberian settlement, the Turó de la Rivera also has the remains of an anti-aircraft battery that helped defend Barcelona from bombings during the Civil War. The history is evident and fascinating in this spot, and the panoramic, 360˚ views of the city are amazing.

BAC Spanish Language and Culture
In Spanish class with Marta Ruiz, we are learning how to ask and give directions in the city, as well as learning the names of different food items. Living in Barcelona, these are very useful things to know. Just the other day, a few of us were asked directions by a couple of tourists in Spanish, and were able to successfully direct them using the words we learned in class!

BAC Studio Lecture Mar Santamaria
This week in studio, we have been presenting our own work to our professors and peers, as well as working on initial site analysis and conceptual designs of our projects. On Thursday, we heard a lecture by Mar Santamaria on urban mapping centered on the neighborhood of our site that was incredibly informational and interesting. Not only was the content of the maps presented useful information, but the way it was graphically presented was quite inspirational for our own site mapping.
