Enric Batlle studied at the School of Architecture of Barcelona (ETSAB-UPC), obtaining a degree in architecture in 1980 and later in 2002, a Doctorate in Architecture from the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the UPC with the thesis “The Garden of the metropolis. From romantic landscape in free space for a sustainable city “. Thesis that received the Extraordinary Doctoral Award from the Commission of Doctorate of the UPC and was awarded the Architecture Prize Montaner Theory and Criticism. This research work has been published by Editorial Gustavo Gili in 2012 under the same name and later awarded the 2012 FAD Prize Theory and Criticism.

He has been associated since 1982 with the Department of Urban and Regional Planning of the UPC (Polytechnic University of Catalonia). Currently, he is Director of the Master in Landscape -MBLandArch- taught at the ETSAB (School of Architecture of Barcelona – UPC). His educational role was mainly developed in the ETSAV (School of Architecture of the Vallès – UPC) as a teacher and coordinator of Urbanism Workshop of Architecture and Projects.

Numerous internationally renowned universities have had their participation in courses and masterclass: The University of Navarra, Università degli Studi Roma Tre, Copenhagen University, Oslo School of Architecture and Design, Beijing Forestry University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Virginia and University of Texas at Austin -between others and their thesis on architecture and landscape have been reported in a variety of institutions, from the Architectural League of New York to the School of Agriculture of Barcelona.

Nicolas Vaucher s17 lecture series

Born in Geneva, 1965, Nicolas Vaucher studied architecture at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) where he graduated in 1991. He gained professional experience abroad in Auckland (NZ), New York (Eisenman architects) and in Paris (François Roche).

In 1993, he co-founded BMW architects, winner of the Distinction of Romande architecture 2006 and recognized for the quality of its projects and competition entries.

He became a visiting professor at HEPIA school of architecture in 2007. As an active member of several professional associations, he defends and promotes architectural quality, for both our urban and social environments, convinced that a beautiful city is a city that promotes better living.

Since 2008, he is the Design director for Burckhardt+partner in Suisse romande (French-speaking cantons of Switzerland). He actively develops a common cultural knowledge for urban context and architecture in collaboration with his project teams.

Committee member of the Swiss Architects Federation (FAS) and member of the Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects (SIA) and the Architectural Commission of Geneva (Commission d’architecture de Genève)
