As a part of our Spring 2017 lecture series, we have received the locally and internationally well known ceramics genius Toni Cumella.
Son of the ceramist, Toni Cumella colaborating with architects from all around the world, expert in use of ceramics in architecture. Toni Cumella describes his work as artisan using new technologies. Well known for the restoration of Gaudi’s Casa Batlló, restoration of Gaudi’s Parc Güell, Santa Caterina market`s roof , Spanish pavilion at the Expo Zaragoza or recently open Maat in Lisabon among others.
Robert Brufau, Architect who designed structures for the most important national and international projects.(Among others: CCCB in Barcelona, Santa Monica Art Centre in Barcelona, Caixa Forum in Zaragoza, Disseny Hub in Barcelona, MNAC, el Molino Theatre, Torre Agbar, Forum’s Triangle etc ) gave our Spring 2017 students lecture on Ceramic Applications in Structures.

Enric Batlle studied at the School of Architecture of Barcelona (ETSAB-UPC), obtaining a degree in architecture in 1980 and later in 2002, a Doctorate in Architecture from the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the UPC with the thesis “The Garden of the metropolis. From romantic landscape in free space for a sustainable city “. Thesis that received the Extraordinary Doctoral Award from the Commission of Doctorate of the UPC and was awarded the Architecture Prize Montaner Theory and Criticism. This research work has been published by Editorial Gustavo Gili in 2012 under the same name and later awarded the 2012 FAD Prize Theory and Criticism.
He has been associated since 1982 with the Department of Urban and Regional Planning of the UPC (Polytechnic University of Catalonia). Currently, he is Director of the Master in Landscape -MBLandArch- taught at the ETSAB (School of Architecture of Barcelona – UPC). His educational role was mainly developed in the ETSAV (School of Architecture of the Vallès – UPC) as a teacher and coordinator of Urbanism Workshop of Architecture and Projects.
Numerous internationally renowned universities have had their participation in courses and masterclass: The University of Navarra, Università degli Studi Roma Tre, Copenhagen University, Oslo School of Architecture and Design, Beijing Forestry University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Virginia and University of Texas at Austin -between others and their thesis on architecture and landscape have been reported in a variety of institutions, from the Architectural League of New York to the School of Agriculture of Barcelona.
