BAC JAPAN Spring 2013_ Study Travel 02 to OLOT-PALAMOS past 23.03.2013

Our Spring 2013 BAC JAPAN students in their second study travel have visited the built work of RCR Arquitectes in Olot – Palamos, a city in Catalunya outside of the Bar­celona area.

Some of the projects visited were the BELL LLOC WINERY, LES COLS RESTAURANT AND PAVILION, BATH PAVILION, RCR Workshop, TUSSOLS-BASIN TRACK AND FIELD STADIUM and PEDRA TOSCA PARK. The students learned firsthand from the architects about their firm’s attention to detail, landscape and site value, as well as their subtle natural lighting incorporation.

Spring 2013 BAC JAPAN students visiting Roldán + Berengué, arqts studio past 22.03.2013

Our Spring 2013 Japanese students have visited professional studio of the Roldán+Berengué, arqts where Miguel Roldán explained them few R+B arqts built projects and in phase of construction.

They have received a lecture tour of the rehabilitation project of the principal level of the typical Eixample building to the R+B arqts office and apartment where later on students had small pica pica party get together on the terrace of the interior patio of Eixample block.

BAC Barcelona Architecture Center joins Clemson University School of Architecture Centennial Year Celebrations

Miguel Roldan, director of the BAC, Barcelona Architecture Center is pleased to announce that:

Barcelona Architecture Center  together with José Caban former chair of the Clemson University College of Architecture and Barcelona program founder, Spring 2013 Clemson University students, BAC actual and former faculty and other personalities of the cultural and the academic scenario of Barcelona are honored to join

CLEMSON UNIVERSITY School of Architecture Centennial Year Celebrations and 40th anniversary of the Clemson Genoa program.

On March 25th, 2013, each of the four Clemson centers: Genoa / Charleston / Barcelona and the main campus in Clemson will be celebrating this event simultaneously.

To commemorate this special anniversary, the Clemson Barcelona Architecture Program will have a videoconference connecting all of the Clemson Campuses at 5:00pm at the BAC. The event will be streamed live on Clemson University website.

Following the videoconference, the celebration will continue with a reception at the La Pedrera.

BAC JAPAN Spring 2013_ Study Travel 01 to IGUALADA/VIC/RIPOLL

Study travel 01 :  IGUALADA / VIC / RIPOLL

Past weekend our Spring 2013 students from Japanese Universities during their first out of Barcelona field trip to Igualada, Vic and Ripoll.

Students have visited Igualada Cementery by Enric Miralles, later on the route in the historic part of the ancient Catalan city of Vic where they have visited Barroque Trinitary Church restored and transformed by Roldán+Berengué,arqts and Atlàntida Theatre by Josep Llinàs.

The trip in the afternoon went on visiting the City of Ripoll next to the  Pyrenees and the Open air theater la Lira by RCR Architects.

Their day have finished going in Camp Nou stadium and to have the unique experience seeing Barca playing and winning the game 4:0.

BAC Japan Spring 2013_Field work 2: EIXAMPLE DISTRICT_past 08.03.2013

Field work 02: EIXAMPLE (Modernism + urbanism).

The most important Barcelona’s urban transformation that represents the emblematic image of urbanism as a discipline. The public space plays an important role in the extension and the continuity of the city.

Projects and sites of reference that our students were explained during this Eixample area field visit are: Passeig de Gracia, Rambla Catalunya, Casa Mila – Pedrera, Casa Batllo, Sagrada Familia, Hospital de la Santa Creu I San Pau, Sant Antoni Library, among others.

BAC Japan Spring 2013_Field work 1: GOTHIC QUARTER – BORN_past 07.03.2013

Field work 01: GOTHIC QUARTER- BORN (history + public space).

Professors: Yoshihide Kobanawa and Jean Craiu
It is the oldest nucleus of the city and the historical center of Barcelona,  growing on the base of the Roman Empire, the interventions to the old city today are designed to adapt to new needs our Spring 2013 Japanese students have visited the area with our professors Yoshihide Kobanawa and Jean Craiu and the buildings such as: MUHBA, Palau de la Música Catalana, Mercado de Santa Catarina, Plaza de la Catedral, Iglesia de la Santa Maria del Mar, among others.

As the introduction to thier design studio proyect they have visited the main Barcelona old center markets la Boqueria, Santa Caterina market and Barceloneta market.
